Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Winner New Year’s Day Relocated To Brazil

New Year’s Day, winner of the 2013 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, has been sold to stand at Luis Felipe Brandão dos Santos’ Stud Eternamente Rio in Brazil, BloodHorse reports.

The 8-year-old son of Street Cry previously stood at Hill ‘n’ Dale Farm in Lexington, Ky., where he entered stud in 2014. His leading runners include Grade 1-placed Yesterday’s News and Grade 3-placed Day Raider.

Owned by Gary and Mary West and trained by Bob Baffert, New Year’s Day broke his maiden in his second start, and parlayed that effort into a victory in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile at Santa Anita Park. He was retired due to injury later that year with earnings of $1,154,000.
