Winx To Have Pair Of Preps Before Seeking Fourth Straight Cox Plate

Trainer Chris Waller is carving out the path for Winx to pursue a record fourth consecutive Cox Plate victory, in likely her last racing season.

Waller tells the Racing and Sports Network his 7-year-old charge will make her next start a week from Saturday in the Group 1 George Main Stakes over a mile at Randwick.

“Everything is going to plan; we gave her a (five-furlong) jump out last Saturday and everything was good there,” Waller said. “She had a gallop yesterday – she worked the reverse way, getting her warmed up for Melbourne. She stretched out well, she was really happy.”

After the George Main, Winx will point for the G1 Turnbull Stakes at Flemington Oct. 6 before targeting the Cox Plate at Moonee Valley Racecourse in Melbourne. Winx has won 26 consecutive races. Overall in her career, she has 30 victories in 36 starts.
