Where Are They Now: Breeders’ Cup Edition

The Breeders’ Cup World Thoroughbred Championships makes stars out of the horses who run in its races, but not all of them retire to the lush, green pastures of the world’s most coveted breeding farms. Some, mainly geldings, go on to careers off the track as sport horses, using the same athletic abilities, heart and grit that helped them earn their spot on racing’s biggest days.

Included in Horse Nation’s list of Breeders’ Cup runners-turned sport horses are Theory (2014 gelding by Gemologist who finished 10th in the 2016 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile), Radiohead (2007 gelding by Johannesburg who ran 7th in the 2009 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile) and Mr. Commons (2008 gelding by Artie Schiller who was 5th in both the 2011 and 2012 Breeders’ Cup Mile).
