‘We Will Try To Make This Work’: Lone Star Officials Optimistic Racing Can Begin Friday

Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced on Monday that live racing in the state had the green light to resume on Friday, and a three-hour commission meeting on Tuesday began the process of making that goal a reality.

According to the Daily Racing Form, Lone Star Park and the Texas Racing Commission are working in unison to begin live racing without fans this Friday at the Grand Prairie racetrack.

Entries will be taken on Wednesday, utilizing the original first day of the meet’s condition book (April 16) sans the Bluebonnet Stakes. Plans for the remainder of the meet, originally scheduled to go through July 19, are to be determined.

“We will try to make this work, try to make everyone in place and ready to go for Friday,” Chuck Trout, executive director of the Texas Racing Commission, said during the meeting.
