Valadorna, Runner-Up in BC Juvenile Fillies, To Return During Keeneland Meet

Stonestreet Stables' Valadorna, sidelined since undergoing surgery to repair a condylar fracture in her left hind leg in April, will make her return to the races at Keeneland next month.

The BloodHorse reports that the 3-year-old daughter of Curlin has worked five times since late August, the most recent being a four-furlong bullet work at Churchill Downs Sept. 11. Trainer Mark Casse told the BloodHorse that Valadorna would likely return in the G2 Lexus Raven Run Stakes Oct. 21.

Valadorna was last seen on the racetrack earlier this year when she finished third to Farrell in the G2 Rachel Alexandra Stakes Feb. 22. As a 2-year-old in 2016, Valadorna finished a strong second to Champagne Room in the G1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies.

“We're excited about having her back,” Casse told the Bloo. “The (Raven Run) is what we're targeting right now if everything as planned. For the type of injury she had—there are so many different types of condylar fractures. On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the worst, hers was probably only a 1. These type of fractures usually come back perfect and so far, so good.”
