UPDATE: Hall Of Famer Lava Man Recovering From Colic Surgery

Doug O’Neill posted updates on his Facebook page and on Twitter Tuesday concerning fan-favorite ex-racehorse and stable pony Lava Man, who underwent treatment and surgery for colic.

“We know he’s a tough guy but certainly would appreciate your good wishes,” reads the post. “We will keep everyone posted on his progress. Thank you!”

Later in the day, O’Neill said Lava Man had undergone surgery for a large colon displacement.

Update—Lava Man underwent colic surgery to correct a large colon displacement. He stood beautifully and is back in his stall to begin the recovery process. We want to thank the veterinarians and staff for their quick assessment and treatment. Thanks to all for the good wishes.
