Uncle Mo Colt Tops First Session Of Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Fall Yearlings Sale

The Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Fall Yearlings sale opened Monday night in Timonium, Md. with figures steadily on par with last year’s edition. This marks the continuation of a rising trend set in 2017, when average and median rose to their second highest levels in the sale’s history.

The session topper, an Uncle Mo colt (Hip 12) offered by Northview Stallion Station, agent, took the lead early, bring $200,000 from JJ Crupi, agent for Albert Frassetto (video).

The bay colt is out of the graded stakes placed winning Cozzene mare Who’s Cozy, who has already produced four winners, including multiple stakes winner Who’s in Town and stakes placed winner Campaign Vows, as well as stakes producer Who’s in Love. Who’s Cozy is out of Grade 2 winner and multiple graded stakes winner Who Did It and Run, who also produced multiple stakes winner Giant Run and stakes winner American Victory, herself a stakes producer. This is the immediate family of graded stakes winners Hangover Kid, Surely Royal, and Truly a Judge.

The session topper was bred in Maryland by Sycamore Hall Thoroughbreds, LLC.

Trainer John Servis purchased the session’s top filly, a daughter of Malibu Moon (Hip 38), for $110,000 from the consignment of CandyLand, agent.

The dark bay or brown filly is out of the unraced Not For Love mare Apple Pie Baby, dam of two winners from her first two foals, both fillies. Apple Pie Baby is a half-sister to stakes winner Five Star Dream, out of stakes winner Time to Dream, herself a half sister to Five Star Night. She hails from the immediate family of graded stakes winner Totem.

Hip 38 was bred in Kentucky by Classic Thoroughbred.

Overall, 103 yearlings changed hands for $2,384,700, good for an average of $23,152 and a median of $15,000. The RNA rate improved to 20%.

The Midlantic Fall Yearlings sale resumes Tuesday at 10 a.m., Eastern.
