Tyler Robertson Announced As 2018 Official Breeders’ Cup Artist

Breeders’ Cup, Churchill Downs and Louisville Visual Art today announced Tyler Robertson as the winner of the 2018 Official Breeders’ Cup Artist Program, a local art competition commemorating this year’s Breeders’ Cup World Championships at historic Churchill Downs Racetrack in Louisville, KY. Robertson has been selected out of five finalists and 18 total entrants as the Official Artist of the 2018 Breeders’ Cup World Championships.

“We are immensely pleased with the success of our first-ever Official Artist community program and the outpour of support and engagement we’ve received from both local artists and Breeders’ Cup fans,” said Craig Fravel, President and CEO of Breeders’ Cup. “We want to thank all the entrants and finalists for their incredible contributions to the program and congratulate Tyler on becoming the OfficialArtist of the 2018 Breeders’Cup World Championships!”

Tyler Robertson is a Louisville-based artist whose style blends contemporary influences with classic equestrian motifs. Under his brand Kentucky Brushes, Robertson has provided artwork for highly regarded local establishments such as Omni Louisville Hotel and Churchill Downs, global organizations including China Horse Club, private collections and more. Additionally, his artwork has been featured within numerous publications, including Whiskey Advocate, Anchorage Living, Equestrian Stylist, and Horse & Style.

As the Official Artist of the 2018 Breeders’ Cup, Robertson will be awarded a $2,500 commission to create additional artwork themed to the lifestyle and culture of the Breeders’ Cup. The final art pieces will be integrated into a series of Breeders’ Cup promotional materials, including the Official Program covers, hotel key cards and other event collateral.
