TVG To Focus On Oaklawn And Gulfstream Stakes, Look Back At Vintage Breeders’ Cups This Weekend

TVG, America’s horse racing network, will partner with NBC Sports to bring live horse racing into the homes of fans across the country for the fifth consecutive weekend with twelve hours of coverage from Friday, April 24 through Sunday, April 26 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. ET all three days. The coverage will include horse racing from across the country including three stakes races – the $100,000 Bachelor Stakes and the $125,000 Carousel Stakes from Oaklawn Park and the $75,000 Unbridled Stakes from Gulfstream Park.

In addition to Oaklawn Park, TVG will also be showing racing from tracks throughout the country including Gulfstream Park and Tampa Bay Downs. “Trackside Live” will be hosted by Todd Schrupp and will include expert analysis and exclusive interviews from TVG talent including Britney Eurton, Christina Blacker, Simon Bray, Mike Joyce, Dave Weaver, Caton Bredar, Gabby Gaudet and Scott Hazelton.

At Oaklawn Park on Saturday, there are a pair of sprint races on the schedule – the $100,000 Bachelor Stakes and the $125,000 Carousel Stakes. The six-furlong $125,000 Carousel Stakes has drawn a field of eight fillies and mares including a pair of Grade I winners- Bellafina for trainer Simon Callaghan and the Steve Asmussen-trained Mia Mischief. In the $100,000 Bachelor Stakes, Grade I winning juvenile Eight Rings will be making his sophomore debut for trainer Bob Baffert.

Gulfstream Park’s featured race on Saturday is the $75,000 Unbridled Stakes which has drawn a field of seven three-year-olds including Dr. Post, a recent maiden winner for trainer Todd Pletcher who will have Irad Ortiz, Jr. aboard. Ortiz, leading jockey at Gulfstream Park’s championship meet, is returning to the saddle after a month off.

TVG will air several special features in advance of “Trackside Live” on Saturday morning as part of an ongoing weekly series. The Saturday morning broadcast will include a replay of a feature on trainer Richard Mandella’s remarkable four-win day at the 2003 Breeders’ Cup titled “Man Oh Mandella What a Day!”. In addition, TVG will also replay the 2015 Breeders’ Cup Classic in which American Pharoah became the first horse to sweep the “Grand Slam” – the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes, Belmont Stakes and Breeders’ Cup Classic. The 2003 Breeders’ Cup special will air at 10:00 a.m. ET/7:00 a.m. PT and the 2015 Breeders’ Cup Classic will follow at 11:00 a.m. ET/8:00 a.m. PT.

Both specials will be available for fans to also watch on the Watch TVG app.
