Treasure Beach Shuttling To Argentina For Southern Hemisphere Breeding Season

Treasure Beach, an Irish champion and Grade/Group 1 winner in the U.S. and Europe, will shuttle to Haras Cardenal in Argentina for the upcoming Southern Hemisphere breeding season, Turf Diario reports.

The 11-year-old Galileo horse stands the Northern Hemisphere season at Pleasant Acres Stallions in Morriston, Fla., where he retired for the 2014 breeding season. He’d previously stood four South American seasons at Haras Abolengo in Argentina, but didn’t make the trip last year.

Treasure Beach’s most successful runners to date have come in Argentina, led by Group 1 winner Mirta, G3 winner Glorious Moment, and G2-placed Lima Tango Alfa. His domestic runners include stakes winner Decorated Ace and stakes-placed Treasure for Gold, Beach Waltz, and Tigerbeach.

Treasure Beach was a multi-hemisphere star during his own on-track career, winning the G1 Secretariat Stakes in the U.S. and G1 Irish Derby during his 3-year-old season. He retired with five wins in 22 starts for earnings of $2,435,343.
