Tom Ludt Joins Phoenix Thoroughbreds As Director Of U.S. Operations

Tom Ludt has joined the team at Phoenix Thoroughbreds, which emerged this year as a major player at international bloodstock auctions and won its initial American Grade 1 race last Saturday when Dream Tree captured the G1 Starlet Stakes at Los Alamitos for trainer Bob Baffert.

Ludt is based in the U.S. and will lead operations there with the continued support of the current Phoenix Thoroughbreds team and help advise on new sourcing opportunities and management of existing bloodstock.

“As we expand our operations into stallions, broodmares and explore resale opportunities, we are developing what we believe to be an excellent team of advisors worldwide,” a statement from Phoenix Thoroughbreds said.

Phoenix Thoroughbreds has made several major bloodstock acquisitions at breeding stock, yearling and 2-year-olds in training sales around the world and has operations in the U.S., Europe and Australia. American horses are currently stabled with Bob Baffert in California, with Jeremy Noseda conditioning the Phoenix Thoroughbreds runners in Europe. Noseda’s wife, Kerri Radcliffe, has served as racing and bloodstock advisor and has been the point person at public auctions.

Aamer Abdulaziz Salman, CEO of Phoenix Thoroughbreds, stated: “With Tom’s previous leadership roles in running Vinery Stud and Racing for many years, Breeders Cup chairman, Santa Anita racetrack and now chairman of, he brings with him great relationships and experience in the equine market.

“We couldn’t be happier to add him to our team.  We look forward to building our bloodstock operation and we are pleased that Tom is part of building the Phoenix legacy.”
