‘Time For Her To Have A Break’: Winx Set For A Well-Deserved Vacation

Three-time Cox Plate winner Winx is set to have some well-deserved time off, with a return to the races planned for no earlier than March 2018.

Racing.com reports that it was hoped that the 6-year-old daughter of Street Cry would line up in G1 Emirates Stakes at Flemington next weekend, but trainer Chris Waller nixed those plans.

“We have come up with the decision that we think it is time for her to have a break, she has done a great job, as you can see she means so much to all of us,” Waller said at an impromptu press conference Friday.

Waller added that it would be several months before a decision was made regarding her 2018 campaign.

“We won’t come to a decision until at least what we call the autumn of Australian racing, which would be around mid-to-the-end of March, based on her form, based on her well-being, and whether she gets on that plane, racing is a big sport, racing is well aware of Winx and they are welcome to come here anytime,” Waller said.
