‘This Is My House’: Hometown Advantage For Gunnevera In Pegasus

Trainer Antonio Sano believes his Fountain of Youth (G2) winner Gunnevera has a hometown advantage in the world’s richest horse race, the $16 million Pegasus World Cup Invitational (G1) Saturday at Gulfstream Park.

“This is my house,” said the popular Sano, who has saddled Gunnevera to five victories and $1.6 million in earnings while being based in South Florida. “My horse is training very, very well. For me the horse is 100 percent.”

Bill Gallo, who will lease Gunnevera for the race, said: “I was thinking if the horse came in second, third of fourth I’d be thrilled, But after seeing the horse, I think we got a chance.”
