The League of Agricultural and Equine Centers Celebrates 20th Anniversary

The League of Agricultural and Equine Centers will kick off its 20th anniversary celebration in Ontario, Calif., with its annual Footing Academy and Symposium on January 12-17, 2018. The annual event, now in its 20th year, brings together equine event managers, employees and enthusiasts from around the country to collaborate and learn in a friendly, welcoming environment.

The League Footing Academy will take place at the George Ingalls Equestrian Event Center in Norco, Calif. Dubbed “Horsetown USA,” Norco is proud of their equine venue, which includes an 85,000-square foot arena with permanent seating for 2,100. Academy attendees will learn from discussions on arena footing and issues that pertain to show venues. Discussion of arena maintenance and equipment will also be covered in depth.

The League Symposium will be hosted at the Ontario Airport Hotel and will offer lectures  and roundtable discussions on a variety of topics pertinent to ag and equine facilities growth in the 21st century. These may include: risk management, green initiatives, seasonal and part-time labor issues, security, event scheduling software programs and more.

“As we celebrate our 20th year, we are pleased to welcome back Kiser Arena Specialists, experts in arena footing, to The League Footing Academy. Even if you have attended an academy before, there is always new information to be learned and shared with other facility personnel,” says Lon Oyster, executive director.  “Networking during the Symposium continues to be one of the most valuable and enjoyable aspects. Our association is growing and we have so many benefits for old and new members alike.”

Always a favorite symposium event, in-depth tours of the Los Angeles Equestrian Center in Burbank and the George Ingalls Equestrian Event Center in Norco will be offered on multiple dates. Tour attendees will hear from arena specialists and clinicians, as well as explore details that make each of these venues unique.

Equine facilities and event management are dynamic, thriving facets of the equine industry, but key to their success and growth is the exploration of diversification so the venues are not solely dependent upon ticket sales. The League assists both private as well as government owned equestrian event venues in their quest to diversify operations to ensure a steady revenue stream.
