Stronach Moving Three Stallions To California To Improve Population Problem

Stronach Group founder Frank Stronach is taking a hands-on approach to helping fill future fields at Santa Anita Park. According to a report from the Daily Racing Form’s Joe Nevills, Stronach will move two stallions – City Wolf (by Giant’s Causeway) and North Light (by Danehill) from his Kentucky operation to EF1 Farm in Hemet, Calif. Multiple Grade 1 winner and Canadian champion Shaman Ghost, a Stronach homebred, will enter stud in 2018 in California.

Stronach’s plan is to stimulate breeding activity in the state and hopes the offspring of his stallions can help supply small stables.

Stronach’s recent transfer of Stronach Group Chief Operating Officer Tim Ritvo to the West Coast indicates his focus his shifted from his Eastern operations in Florida and Maryland to Santa Anita. One of the biggest issues Ritvo has identified is low horse population and the dominance of large trainers.
