Report: Espinoza Out Of Neck Brace, More Physical Therapy Ahead

According to a report in the Daily Racing Form, Triple Crown-winning jockey Victor Espinoza is out of the neck brace he has worn since late July, but is several weeks away from returning to the saddle. Espinoza is recovering from a fracture of his C-3 vertebra, suffered when he fell from mount Bobby Abu Dhabi when the horse collapsed during a workout July 22.

Espinoza had been in the highly restrictive brace since the accident. He is scheduled for another month’s worth of physical therapy.

Agent Brian Beach told the Form Espinoza will be reassessed by his doctors in a month. The rider is also struggling to regain strength in his left arm.
