Ravit, Bowman Joining The Jockey Club Staff

The Jockey Club today announced that Patricia Bowman has been hired as registration and industry initiative specialist in the Registry and Alexa Ravit has been hired as a communications coordinator in the Communications Department.

Bowman’s responsibilities will include the processing of all documentation related to foal registration, exports, naming, corrections, and duplicates and providing customer service with regard to registration via telephone, email and mail. She will also support broader industry initiatives housed within The Jockey Club and execute communications, content management, and social media strategies for the International Forum for the Aftercare of Racehorses.

She will be based in The Jockey Club’s Lexington, Ky., office and will report to Matt Iuliano, The Jockey Club’s executive vice president and executive director.

The native of Bensalem, Pa., has a bachelor’s degree in Media Communications from Holy Family University in Philadelphia and a master’s certificate in Thoroughbred Management from Godolphin Flying Start. Her Flying Start experience included stints with trainer Graham Motion in Fair Hill, Md., with the Racing New South Wales stewards, with Weatherbys in England, and with the Emirates Racing Authority stewards in Dubai.

Ravit, a Bellmore, N.Y., resident who has spent the past four summers as an intern in The Jockey Club’s New York office, will be writing news releases, feature stories and miscellaneous copy for various publications and websites for The Jockey Club and its affiliated companies. She will also be involved with social media activities for those organizations and provide communications-related support to various industry initiatives funded or supported by The Jockey Club.

She will be based in The Jockey Club’s New York office and will report to Bob Curran Jr., The Jockey Club’s vice president of corporate communications.

Ravit is a graduate of Cornell University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, where she majored in Animal Science. She later earned a Master of Science degree from the University of Arizona’s Race Track Industry Program. Ravit also completed internships at Claiborne Farm and Gainsborough Farm in Kentucky, and at the New York Racing Association. She has written blogs for America’s Best Racing and managed social media at Rillito Park in Tucson.
