‘Racing Fans Will Be Inconvenienced’: NYRA Races Won’t Be Shown On TVG

When live racing Belmont Park resumes later this week, those races will not be shown on either TVG or TVG2, according to Ron Flatter, special to Horse Racing Nation. Instead, New York Racing Association races will be shown on Fox Sports, MSG+, and on ADW platforms, including TVG.com.

“NYRA has informed us that it will not entertain granting non-exclusive television rights to TVG,” Kip Levin, CEO of TVG, told HRN. “We are disappointed that after a 20-year partnership and at such a crucial time for the sport, racing fans will be inconvenienced because Belmont Park’s races will not be available on either TVG or our simulcasts of ‘Trackside Live’ on NBCSN.”

Churchill Downs’ races have also been shut out on the main TVG channel this spring, appearing instead on FS1 and FS2 via CDI’s new parternship with NYRA and Fox on the telecast America’s Day at the Races.

“This year we were presented with a unique opportunity to get an unprecedented amount of televised coverage from Belmont Park on national television on (the Fox Sports) family of networks,” NYRA TV executive producer Tony Allevato told HRN.
