Quite The ‘Charm’-er: 1997 Kentucky Derby Winner Near And Dear To Baffert’s Heart

Hall of Fame conditioner Bob Baffert has been in Louisville this week, overseeing the preparation of a small string of horses that will run in stakes races this weekend at Churchill Downs.  Since he doesn't have a runner in the Kentucky Derby this year, Baffert will visit three of his past Derby winners – Silver Charm, War Emblem, and American Pharoah while he's in the Commonwealth.

Anytime he's in Kentucky and has time, Baffert makes it a point to pay a visit to Old Friends Farm in Georgetown, where he and his family spend some time with Silver Charm, in addition to 2002 Derby winner War Emblem, and multiple G1 winner, Game on Dude.

“Each time I see him I get all choked up,” Baffert said.
