Pure Sensation Repeats In Turf Monster

Patricia Generazio’s homebred Pure Sensation took the lead at the start and refused to give in all the way down the stretch on Monday, earning back-to-back victories in the Grade 3 Turf Monster Stakes at Parx. The 7-year-old son of Zensational, ridden by Kendrick Carmouche, was sent off at odds of 7-2 to hold off Vision Perfect by a neck on the wire. Trained by Christophe Clement, Pure Sensation completed five furlongs over the “good” turf in 56 2/5 seconds. The 2-1 favorite at post time, Imprimis got involved late to finish fourth.

Smiling Causeway broke the best, but Pure Sensation was quick into stride at the rail and immediately surged to the lead. He battled with both Smiling Causeway and Vision Perfect through a first quarter in :22 2/5, followed by Pool Winner, the favored Imprimis, and Bucchero, who was forced to check off the heels of Pool Winner in the early going.

Rounding the turn for home, Smiling Causeway gave in but Vision Perfect took up the challenge. Pure Sensation would not be denied, and held gamely all the way through the wire to win by a neck. Vision Perfect settled for second, while Rainbow Heir was third. Imprimis finished fourth.

Bred in Florida by his owner, Pure Sensation has improved his record to 10 wins in 29 starts with earnings over $1.5 million. This was his third overall win in the Turf Monster.
