Parx Racing Director Sam Elliott To Depart For Job Building Caribbean Track

Parx director of racing Sam Elliott is leaving the Pennsylvania track to become an executive of the Royal Saint Lucia Turf Club, a racetrack scheduled to open next year.

According to the Daily Racing Form, Sunday will be Elliott’s final day at Parx, and on Tuesday he’ll begin his new job in the Caribbean.

“I’ve always liked international racing and always kind of wanted an international post,” Elliott said. “I’m ready for something challenging. It’s going to be exciting.”

DRF reported that Elliott, who’s been at Parx about three years has never visited Saint Lucia, an island between Martinique and St. Vincent. The racetrack is being built by an affiliate of the China Horse Club, co-owners of Kentucky Derby contenders Audible and Justify.
