Parx Racing Cancels Tuesday’s Live Program Due To Frozen Track

Parx Racing in Bensalem, Pa., cancelled its nine-race card on Tuesday, Dec. 26, because of track conditions.

“We had a lot of rain and it froze hard,” said Sam Elliott, director of racing for the suburban Philadelphia racetrack and casino. “Gerard (track superintendent Gerard Weipert) thought he could get the track ready but the sun never came out. It’s the normal winter freeze/thaw problem.”

The next scheduled live program at Parx is on Saturday, Dec. 30.

The National Weather Service’s extended forecast calls for temperatures to remain at or below freezing for the remainder of the week, with a 50 percent chance of snow flurries on Saturday morning.
