PariBet Racetrack Industry Student Experience: Rillito’s Ambassador

When it was time for Tucsonan Amy Euler to decide where she would to go to college, she couldn’t image herself anywhere but the University of Arizona. Even though her parents urged her to consider out-of-state options, her mind was made up. She would enroll in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and most likely study nutrition, but all that changed during freshman orientation when she discovered the Race Track Industry Program. The horse racing fan in her reemerged and she became certain as to the direction her career would take.

Now a senior, Euler just completed her second year as Rillito’s racing ambassador.  From escorting sponsors to the winner’s circle – and making sure no one was standing behind the winning horse – to assisting with the VIP Budweiser Clydesdale meet and greet event, Euler was Rillito’s “go to” person.

“Rillito represents 75 years of historic racing. It was at Rillito where photo-finish was first used and is the birth place of Quarter Horse racing. Working at Rillito the past three years has been so much fun” said Euler. “You not only learn a lot about race track operations, but also about the people who are part of the rich history of Rillito. Rillito is a great little track.”

When not assisting patrons on the frontside, Euler can be found on the backstretch expanding her knowledge of the training side of the industry. This summer, she’ll take the next step in realizing her dream of becoming a trainer when she participates in an internship with RTIP alumnus Phil D’Amato at San Luis Rey Downs in Southern California.

Euler already has a small tie to that training center. While taking the sales prep course at the UA, Euler was paired with a colt by Papa Clem. The colt was sold at the Arizona Thoroughbred Breeder’s Sale and will be training at San Luis Rey starting in April.
