Oxley Goes To $275,000 For Violence Colt During Select Session Of The OBS October Yearling Sale

Owner John Oxley went to $275,000 to secure a colt by Violence during the select session of the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's 2017 October Yearling Sale on Tuesday, Oct. 10. Consigned by Kaizen Sales, the colt is out of a winning daughter of Pulpit from the family of Grade 1 winner Silver Maiden.

Hip No. 96, a chestnut colt by More Than Ready consigned by Summerfield (Francis & Barbara Vanlangendonck), Agent, was sold to de Meric Stables for $240,000.  He's out of Coal and Ice, by Tapit, a half sister to graded stakes placed Blueridge Traveler.

Hip No. 121, a daughter of Will Take Charge consigned by Stuart Morris, Agent, was purchased by de Meric Stables for $230,000. The bay filly is out of Final Heiress, by Forest Wildcat, a full sister to grade one winner and successful sire Wildcat Heir and graded stakes winner Forest Heiress.

Hip No. 20, a chestnut colt by Malibu Moon consigned by Summerfield (Francis & Barbara Vanlangendonck), Agent, went to Sagamore Farm for $170,000.  He's out of stakes winner Ready Signal, by More Than Ready.

Stephanie Wedge & Del Secco, DCS, Inc. paid $150,000 for Hip No. 31, a son of Jimmy Creed out of Showmethegreencard, by De Niro, a full sister to graded stakes winner De Bertie. Consigned by Select Sales, Agent, the dark bay or brown colt is a half brother to stakes winner Mrs. Began.

Hip No.  54, a son of Distorted Humor consigned by Beth Bayer, Agent, went to John C. Oxley for $150,000. The bay colt, a half brother to graded stakes placed stakes winner Sweet Tapper, is out of millionaire grade one stakes winner Sweet Talker, by Stormin Fever.

Hip No. 195, a dark bay or brown filly by Will Take Charge consigned by Stuart Morris, Agent, also brought $150,000, going to Three Diamonds Farm. She's out of Choice Pearl, by Any Given Saturday, a  half sister to grade one winner Awesome Humor out of stakes winner Horns Gray.

For the day, 107 horses sold for a total of $4,841,400, compared with 148 yearlings bringing $5,573,300 at the 2016 Selected Sale. The average price was $45,247, up 20.1% compared with $37,657 last year, while the median was $32,000, up 28% compared with $25,000 last year. The buyback percentage was 38.5%; it was 33.6% a year ago.

The sale continues Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. with Hip No.'s 301 – 746 selling in the Open session. The session will again be streamed live via the OBS, Blood-Horse and Daily Racing Form websites.
