Omaha Beach Lays Down Bullet Three-Furlong Work For Malibu

Fox Hill Farm’s Omaha Beach put in an impressive breeze on Sunday morning at Santa Anita Park, rolling through three furlongs in 34 seconds flat. reports the Daily Racing Form. The 3-year-old War Front colt is scheduled to run in the Grade 1 Malibu later this week, which was postponed from Thursday to Saturday by Santa Anita’s decision to delay opening day.

“He went nice. Had a hard time pulling him up,” trainer Richard Mandella told drf.com. “I was going to breeze him easy if the race was Thursday, but with the race put off until Saturday I decided to do a little more.”

Omaha Beach’s time was the fastest of 31 at the distance, eclipsing the nearest time by more than two seconds. The colt will be making his first start since finishing second in the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile, and plans after the Malibu call for him to race in the Pegasus World Cup at Gulfstream Park before heading off to stud.
