NYRA Bets Presents Weekend Play At Saratoga: A Hopeful Trifecta

Saratoga’s closing day card features the Grade 1 Hopeful Stakes for 2-year-olds, and this year’s field offers an eight-colt lineup with several intriguing options.

In today’s Weekend Play, let’s take a run at the trifecta.

Race 10, G1 Hopeful, 7 furlongs

In an effort to get some value here, let’s leave off the 8-5 morning-line favorite in (7) Mucho, hoping he bounces off the big effort last out or that pace pressure is his undoing. Instead, I’ll look to horses that have shown the ability to come from just off the pace, like (2) Mind Control, who picks up John Velazquez for his first start at the Spa. (1) Sombeyay got the job done in the Sanford despite trouble, so he should be on our ticket here, and I also think (5) Dream Maker will be coming at the end of the stretch run.

Trifecta Box: 1-2-5
