New York Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association Seeking Executive Director

The New York Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association is conducting a search for an executive director that NYTHA board member Terry Finley hopes will “turn a very good organization into a world class organization.”

Finley, who is assisting NYTHA president Joseph Applebaum in the search for a new executive director, said the requirements of the job encompass several professional skills, including administrative duties, acting as a liaison with the New York Racing Association and serving as the voice for Thoroughbred horsemen at the state capitol in Albany.

“This is an important, high profile position and a very good opportunity for the right person to significantly impact the lives of horsemen in New York,” Finley said. To be successful in the position, he added, the applicant should be well-rounded and with knowledge of the horse racing business, comfortable on the backstretch, and have the ability to communicate well with owners, trainers and the organizations that serve employees in the stable area.

NYTHA has a budget that will be commensurate with an executive living and working in New York, Finley added.

Interested applicants should contact the New York Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association at NYTHAJOB@gmail.com.
