The New York State Gaming Commission has proposed regulations regarding minimum standards for the backstretch housing at NYRA racetracks, according to timesunion.com.
Under the new rules, the accommodations would have size requirements, minimum air temperatures, safe water, certain amenities, pest control, and garbage removal.
These regulations, which could take effect later this year, would require both state and local agencies to inspect the housing but also allow for NYRA to have waivers or additional time to comply with new requirements.
