My Boy Jack Seeks Final Derby Points Against Full Field In Lexington Stakes

Don’t Tell My Wife Stables and Monomoy Stables’ My Boy Jack, winner of the Southwest (G3) and most recently third in the Twinspires.com Louisiana Derby (G2), tops a field of 12 3-year-olds entered Wednesday for Saturday’s 37th running of the $200,000 Stonestreet Lexington (G3).

The Stonestreet Lexington, run at 1 1/16 miles on the main track, will go as the ninth race on Saturday’s 11-race program with a 5:34 p.m. ET post time. First post time Saturdayis 1:05 p.m.

The race is the final one in Kentucky on the Road to the Kentucky Derby (G1) and offers 34 points on a 20-8-4-2 basis to the top four finishers.

With 32 points, My Boy Jack sits just outside of the projected cut line to get in the 20-horse field at Churchill Downs.

My Boy Jack, trained by Keith Desormeaux, will be ridden by Kent Desormeaux and break from post position 12.

Two other horses with Derby points are in the field: Greyvitos (10) and Pony Up (8).

Triple B Farms’ Greyvitos won the Bob Hope (G3) at Del Mar in November and then won the Remington Springboard Mile at in December, 10 days after escaping the devastating fire that claimed 46 horses at San Luis Rey Training Center in California.

Trained by Adam Kitchingman, Greyvitos will be ridden by Joel Rosario and break from position six.

Calumet Farm’s Pony Up finished second in the Jeff Ruby Steaks (G3) at Turfway Park on an all-weather surface in his most recent start. Trained by Todd Pletcher, Pony Up will be ridden by John Velazquez and break from post position seven.

The field for the Stonestreet Lexington, with riders and weights from the inside, is: Battle At Sea (Kendrick Carmouche, 118 pounds), Telekinesis (Javier Castellano, 118),Seven Trumpets (Robby Albarado, 118), Honor Up (Jose Ortiz, 118), Magicalmeister (John McKee, 118), Greyvitos (Rosario, 120), Pony Up (Velazquez, 118), Gracida(Julien Leparoux, 118), Navy Armed Guard (David Delgado, 118), Zanesville (James Graham, 118), Arched Feather (Victor Lebron, 118) and My Boy Jack (Desormeaux, 120).
