Moore Enjoys Six-Win Day In Tokyo Ahead Of Japan Cup

Top jockey Ryan Moore is in Japan this weekend for the Group 1 Japan Cup, and will ride Aidan O’Brien trainee Idaho in Sunday’s main event. Moore warmed up for Sunday with six victories on Saturday’s card at Tokyo Racecourse; according to racingpost.com the jockey only had eight mounts from 12 total races.

“I’ve been lucky to ride some of the best horses of my career in Japan, horses like Maurice, Gentildonna and Real Steel,” Moore said simply.

The first win on Saturday, aboard Rapier Wit, was Moore’s 100th win in Japan.

Sunday’s Japan Cup features a strong challenge from the local contingent of Kitasan Black and Satono Crown, but Moore’s hot streak could help him propel Idaho to victory.
