Breeders’ Cup Distaff winner Monomoy Girl will run as a 4-year-old in 2019, but she will not be taking on the boys in January’s Pegasus World Cup Invitational, reports the Daily Racing Form’s Marty McGee.
According to McGee, the certain 3-year-old champion filly could make her first start next year in the Grade 1 Apple Blossom Handicap at Oaklawn Park. The race is scheduled for April 14.
This week, Monomoy Girl, trained by Brad Cox, was shipped to Ocala, Fla., for some time off. She won six of seven starts this year, her only loss a controversial disqualification in the G1 Cotillion Stakes at Parx. Her win in the Distaff was her fifth Grade 1 victory in 2018.
