Multiple graded stakes winner Mohaymen has been retired and will stand stud next season at Shadwell’s Nashwan Stud in central Kentucky for a fee of $7,500, per a report from The Blood-Horse on Thursday.
The big gray trained by Kiaran McLaughlin was an early standout on the 2016 Kentucky Derby trail, winning the Grade 2 Holy Bull and Fountain of Youth, but lost the G1 Florida Derby to eventual Kentucky Derby winner Nyquist.
Mohaymen struggled to hit the board after finishing fourth in the 2016 Derby, most recently coming fifth in the Alydar Stakes at Saratoga last month.
Mohaymen is the son of Tapit and Dixie Union mare Justwhistledixie.
