Lil Indy, Dam Of Maximum Security, Consigned To Keeneland November Sale

Lil Indy, the dam of multiple Grade 1 winner Maximum Security, will be sold in foal to leading sire Quality Road during the premier Book 1 of Keeneland’s November Breeding Stock Sale on Wednesday, Nov. 6. Also offered is a weanling full-sister to Maximum Security. Both Lil Indy and her weanling filly are consigned by Lane’s End, agent.

“Lil Indy, in foal on one cover to Quality Road, and her weanling full sister to Maximum Security are special offerings that are keys to future success,” SF Bloodstock’s Tom Ryan said. “As the dam of Maximum Security, Lil Indy is a proven producer of a top-class horse. This year, Maximum Security has five triple-digit Beyer numbers – more than any other 3-year-old – while he has beaten a number of outstanding horses.”

Maximum Security has defeated an array of his crop’s leading performers. In winning the Grade 1 Xpressbet Florida Derby, he conquered G1 Jockey Club Gold Cup and G1 Runhappy Travers hero Code of Honor. In capturing the G1 TVG.com Haskell Invitational, he sailed past multiple graded stakes winner Mucho Gusto.

Lil Indy is carrying a half-sibling to Maximum Security by Quality Road, a breed-shaping stallion who is among the world’s leading sires with 10 Grade 1 winners that include champions Abel Tasman and Caledonia Road. He leads all stallions in 2019 with four Grade 1 winners this year: Bellafina, City of Light, Dunbar Road and Roadster.

Lil Indy is by Anasheed, a graded stakes-placed son of leading broodmare sire A.P. Indy, and is a half-sister to multiple Grade 1 winner and $3.6 million earner Flat Out.

Lil Indy’s dam is stakes winner Cresta Lil, who became a prolific producer with 10 winners from 11 foals. Her extended family includes near-millionaire and Grade 1 winner Got Koko, multiple graded stakes winner and 23-time winner J.T.’s Pet and multiple stakes winner Shiny Sheet, who banked more than $500,000.

“Keeneland is excited for the opportunity to offer Lil Indy and her weanling filly,” Keeneland vice president of racing and sales Bob Elliston said. “She will be a highly prized addition to any number of the major breeding operations.”

Keeneland recently announced that the November Sale was moved back a day from its original schedule to allow buyers more time to travel to Central Kentucky from the Breeders’ Cup World Championships on Nov. 1-2 at Santa Anita in Southern California and inspect horses at the sale.

The November Sale covers 12 sessions through Sunday, Nov. 17.
