Laurel Park: Rainbow 6 Carryover Kicks Off New Three-Day Week Schedule

There will be a jackpot carryover of $9,125.32 in the 20-cent Rainbow 6 as Laurel Park moves to a three-day schedule when live racing returns Friday, Dec. 6.

After racing on a Thursday through Sunday schedule in October and November, Laurel will race Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for the duration of the fall meet, which concludes Sunday, Dec. 29.

Laurel Park will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 24 and 25, for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and present a special program Thursday, Dec. 26.

Friday’s Rainbow 6 spans Races 4-9 and is kicked off by a $45,000 second-level optional claiming allowance for fillies and mares 3 and up going one mile, where multiple stakes-placed It’s a Journey is the 124-pound top weight. The sequence also includes a $42,000 entry-level allowance at about 1 1/16 miles for females 3 and older in Race 7.

First-race post time Friday is 12:25 p.m.

Gates will open at 11 a.m. on Maryland Spectacular Day with a 12:25 p.m. first post. The program includes a 2020 Maryland Jockey Club calendar giveaway and the chance to win a prize from the $10,000 giving tree, the latter with program purchase. In addition, fans that bring in a new, unwrapped toy or make a donation will be able to receive an item from Laurel’s Give-a-Gift, Get-a-Gift table.
