Knee Chip Sidelines Promising 3-Year-Old Haul Anchor

Haul Anchor, seen winning the Gander Stakes at Aqueduct.

Chester and Mary Broman's promising 3-year-old Haul Anchor, has been forced to the sidelines due to a knee chip.

The Daily Racing Form reports that the New York-bred son of Bernardini will be out of training two or three months. Trainer Kiaran McLaughlin told the DRF that the colt had surgery Thursday to remove the chip.

Haul Anchor, who races as a homebred for the Broman's, captured the Gander Stakes at Aqueduct in his 3-year-old debut. As a juvenile last year, Haul Anchor won the Damon Runyon Stakes.

Haul Anchor is out of the Storm Cat mare, Whichwaydidshego, a half sister to G2 winner and sire Fed Biz.
