Kerri Radcliffe, Phoenix Thoroughbreds Part Ways

When North America’s auction season of 2-year-olds in training kicks off next week with the OBS March Sale in Ocala, Fla., one of last year’s most dynamic bloodstock agent-owner tandems will not be working together, the Paulick Report has learned.

According to multiple sources with knowledge of the situation, Kerri Radcliffe Bloodstock and the newly formed Phoenix Thoroughbreds – which teamed up to buy more than $20 million worth of bloodstock in 2017 – have parted ways.

Efforts to determine the reason for the split failed when neither Radcliffe nor Amer Abdulaziz Salman – the CEO of Phoenix Thoroughbreds, which launched last year – could be reached for comment.

Radcliffe, a former show jumper who, according to Chris McGrath of TDN, met Abdul Aziz in Dubai nearly six years ago and has put together short lists for him at sales the last several years. Phoenix Thoroughbreds did not officially launch until March 2017, when it made a big splash at Thoroughbred auctions around the world.

Among the horses purchased by Radcliffe on behalf of Phoenix Thoroughbreds is an early favorite for the Kentucky Oaks, the Bob Baffert-trained Grade 1-winning Uncle Mo filly Dream Tree. Baffert also trains Mourinho, a Super Saver colt who won the Smarty Jones Stakes at Oaklawn Park then was beaten on a muddy track in the G3 Southwest Stakes. She also purchased Gronkowski, a son of Lonhro who earlier this week won the Road to the Kentucky Derby Conditions Stakes at Kempton Park in England. Gronkowski is headed to either the G2 Wood Memorial or G2 Blue Grass in hopes of giving Phoenix Thoroughbreds a second Kentucky Derby contender to go with Mourinho. Another Radcliffe purchase, the Scat Daddy filly Take Me With You, was Group 3 placed at Royal Ascot last year in the Albany Stakes.

Gronkowski and Take Me With You are trained by Jeremy Noseda, Radcliffe’s husband. The two were recently separated.
