The third session of the 2017 Keeneland September Yearling sale got underway at 11 a.m. Wednesday morning. Hip Nos. 512 – 857 are scheduled to go through the sales ring.
A Scat Daddy colt (Hip 578) consigned by Anderson Farms, agent, sold to Coolmore‘s M.V. Magnier for $1.1 million less than two hours after the start of Wednesday’s third session of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale.
The colt is the first foal out of the Tapit mare Orchard Beach.
Hip 564, a colt from the first crop of champion Will Take Charge sold to Willis Horton Racing for $975,000. Elm Tree Farm, agent, consigned the colt, a half-brother to 2017 Grade 2 winner Hunter O’Riley. Their dam is the Bernardini mare Oblige.
The top price during Tuesday’s second session was Hip 506, a colt from the final crop of Scat Daddy that brought $950,000 from Kerri Radcliffe Bloodstock.
Keeneland sold 194 yearlings on Tuesday for gross sales of $48,221,000, an average of $248,562, and a median of $200,000. Cumulatively, 289 horses have been sold during the first two sessions for $102,396,000, for an average of $354,311 and a median of $255,000.
The RNA rate for the second session was 33.7 percent.
The session’s leading buyer was Godolphin, which purchased seven horses for $3,180,000.
