Juvenile Copper Bullet Sidelined, ‘Probably Not Going To Make The Breeders’ Cup’

Winchell Thoroughbreds and Willis Horton’s 2-year-old Copper Bullet has had a minor setback, and the four-length winner of the G2 Saratoga Special is now unlikely to make the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile at Del Mar in November, according to drf.com.

“He’s on the shelf for a little bit, I don’t know how long,” said Ron Winchell. “He’s probably not going to make the Breeders’ Cup. He had a little setback, so we gave him a little time. He’ll be back.”

Sired by More Than Ready, Copper Bullet is trained by Steve Asmussen. He broke his maiden by eight lengths in his second start, and finished second in the Bashford Manor at Churchill Downs. Winchell said the colt will return to the races in the future.
