Jockey Zayas Suffers Fractured Femur In Gulfstream Incident.

Jockey Edgard Zayas was seriously injured after the running of Sunday’s fifth race at Gulfstream Park. During the gallop out, his mount Killer Kitten collapsed on the backstretch due to a shoulder injury and was subsequently euthanized.

Zayas was unseated in the incident and was reported to have suffered a fractured right femur. The 25-year-old Puerto Rico native has been transported to Aventura Hospital and is expected to undergo surgery for the fracture.

No timetable for Zayas’ recovery has been established.
