Isabela de Sousa, Rider of Cozmic One, Reflects On RRP Makeover

Cozmic One, Zenyatta’s first foal, competed in the 2018 Retired Racehorse Project’s Thoroughbred Makeover at the Kentucky Horse Park in October, placing fifth overall in the showjumping division out of 97 horses.

Designed to bring attention to Thoroughbreds once their racing careers are completed, the Makeover competition in its current form began in 2013. Since then it has experienced exponential growth; with people from all over the United States, Canada and England vying for $100,000 in cash and prizes.

Cozmic One was ridden and shown by Isabela de Sousa, who won the showjumping division of the Thoroughbred Makeover in 2015, 2016 and 2017. The Chronicle of the Horse reports that Cozmic One had a huge fan base turn out for his Makeover debut, and that Isabela enjoyed talking with people about Thoroughbreds and their careers after the track.

Cozmic One will have the winter off and will be turned out with his pasture pal Isle Of Giants.
