International Campaign Being Considered For Japan Cup Hero Cheval Grand

Japan Cup winner Cheval Grand may take his Group 1-winning act on the road as part of an international campaign in 2018.

The Racing Post reports that the 5-year-old son of Heart’s Cry may start next season in the G1 Dubai Sheema Classic at Meydan. Trainer Yasuo Tomomichi also indicated that Cheval Grand may stay home and run in the G1 Tenno Sho (Spring).

Another top Japanese-based runner that is being considered for several international contests is Satono Diamond. The son of Deep Impact was withdrawn from consideration for the 2017 G1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe after the ground came up too soft. Trainer Yasutoshi Ikee is planning an international campaign for the 4-year-old colt, with the Breeders’ Cup being a possibility for the colt.
