Imperial Hint Vet Scratched From Breeders’ Cup Sprint

Multiple Grade 1-winning sprinter Imperial Hint will not contest this year’s Breeders’ Cup Sprint after veterinarians ruled the horse out on Saturday morning, reported the Daily Racing Form‘s Mike Welsch on Twitter.

“He’s trained perfectly sound but he is tender to the touch around the coronet band and the state vets made the decision to take him out,” said trainer Luis Carvajal.

The 6-year-old son of Imperialism finished second and third in the last two editions of the Breeders’ Cup Sprint, respectively, and was coming into this year’s race on a two-race win streak. In July, Imperial Hint set a track record for six furlongs at Saratoga in the G1 Vanderbilt, blitzing the distance in 1:07.92.
