Horsemen’s Park Postpones Live Meet Scheduled For May

Horsemen’s Park will not run the May 2020 live horse racing dates as originally scheduled. The track made an announcement through its Facebook page on Thursday.

The decision is pending approval from the Nebraska Racing Commission.

The post indicated the track will determine the potential for live racing later this year based on local restrictions on public gatherings in the coming weeks or months.

Horsemen’s Park had seven live race dates on the schedule between May 8 and May 24. For the past two years, it hosted nine days of live racing with record meeting attendance in 2019 of 67,800.

Live racing is currently being conducted at Fonner Park in Grand Island, Neb., through April 29. That track is running races with no spectators, and is one of the few facilities with live race dates Monday through Wednesday.
