Horse That Survived Shooting Spree In KY Gives Birth

In 2019, more than 20 horses were shot and killed in Floyd and Pike Counties in Eastern Kentucky. Multiple other horses were found in the same area; many were in need of food and veterinary care. These horses were taken in by the Kentucky Humane Society and other equine organizations that nursed them back to health and helped them find loving homes.

Hope, a mare that was taken into the KHS program in December, remained in the KHS program for the duration of her pregnancy. KHS worked diligently to get Hope back to health so that she might have a healthy foal. On Sunday, May 17, Hope had her baby at Willow Hope Farm in Simpsonville, KY. The colt is healthy and well.
