Horse Country Debuts Interactive Handicapping 101 Experiences

Horse Country announced on Monday a new elevated experience offered by member Taylor Made Farm. With support from Daily Racing Form, which will supply copies of Daily Racing Form complimentary to all attendees, Taylor Made’s Phil Shelton will introduce the basics of horseracing handicapping. The experiences will be offered on limited dates: January 4th, February 1st, and March 1st, 2018 at Daddy Joe’s Bar & Grill. Tickets are $35 per person per class.

Each Handicapping 101 experience is interactive, including an introduction to the basics of handicapping, an exercise in handicapping real races, and Q & A time with Shelton.

“Taylor Made’s involvement with Horse Country has allowed us to open our gates to fans of every level – from the casual race go-er to people with deep connections to our stallions,” says Laura Richard, the farm’s Director of Guest Experience. “What we’re hearing now is that they’re ready for varied experiences, and handicapping is one area that can be intimidating to the average visitor. Taylor Made’s Handicapping 101, while fun and relaxed, is also intended de-mystify some of the confusion about handicapping and arm the guests with some basic knowledge to use during real races!”

Daily Racing Form is considered the go-to resource for the thoroughbred racing industry, publishing up to 2,000 unique pages of statistical and editorial copy every day. “This is a collaboration between two leading industry partners – DRF and Taylor Made Farm. Any way that we can remove the barriers to fans and future fans understanding and participating in handicapping is a win,” said Allie Herald, Sponsorship Coordinator for DRF.
