Hockey’s Johnson To Name Recent 2-Year-Old Purchase In Honor Of Late Olin Gentry

Horseman Olin Gentry collapsed on the OBS grounds on Friday, from what was later diagnosed as a stroke, according to thoroughbreddailynews.com. The 51-year-old was taken off life support on Saturday.

Hockey player Erik Johnson was “gutted” by the news of Gentry’s death, according to his Twitter account. Johnson plans to name his most recent 2-year-old purchase, a filly by Uncle Mo, in Gentry’s honor.

“He was doing what he loved to do, which was making a horse trade at the horse sale,” said Tom VanMeter. “He was with his buddies. But it was way too soon, and it’s brutally painful.”
