Hightail, Real Solution Return To Calumet Farm Stallion Roster For 2020

Returning to the Calumet Farm stallion roster for 2020 are Hightail and Real Solution.

Hightail, by Mineshaft out of Stormy Renee (by Storm Cat out of Seattle Slew’s multiple Grade 1-winning daughter Fleet Renee) has proved himself on a limited sample size. In his first two crops to race he has sired 50 percent stakes winners including Grade 1 winner Mongolian Groom and multiple stakes winner Dynatail, both earners of over $500,000.

“As the winner of the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Sprint, Hightail offers the breeder both precocity and speed. He is also demonstrating that his progeny can carry that speed at a distance and continue to develop with age” said Eddie Kane.

Real Solution also returns to Calumet after two seasons at stud at Blue Star Racing in Louisiana. A Grade 1 winner on the turf, he has sired stakes winners Sister Peacock and Catch a Bid. He has also made an impact on the commercial market with 2-year-olds selling for $325,000 and $675,000 respectively.

English Channel, continues to experience great success as a sire with proven runners on both the turf and dirt. In 2019, English Channel has sired 13 individual black type winners with five individual graded stakes winners. He also ranks first on the general sires list in the most 100+ Beyer Speed Figure performances with 10 in 2019. Having sired six champions, 23 graded stakes winners, and 47 stakes winners, English Channel is one of the best values at stud today as a perennial top stallion amongst multiple categories.

Ransom the Moon, returns after a successful first year in the breeding shed. As the only Grade 1-winning sprinting son of Malibu Moon at stud, Ransom the Moon offers breeders with a dirt-speed option on an incredible sire line. Ransom the Moon won two Grade 1 races In California, including the 2018 G1 Bing Crosby at Del Mar. In both Grade 1 wins, Ransom the Moon defeated 2-time Breeders’ Cup Sprint winner and Eclipse champion sprinter Roy H.

“He is beautiful, and if he replicates himself we are set,” Kane said. “He is about 16.2 [hands] and has a beautiful neck and topline with a strong hip and hind leg. Looking at his profile, He looks like a classic distance horse but he has the speed to win at six furlongs.”

After Breeding 249 and 199 mares in their first two seasons, G1 Travers Stakes winner Keen Ice (by Curlin) and Brazilian Triple Crown winner Bal a Bali (by Put It Back) will have their first crops of yearlings in 2020 along with Millionaire Mr. Z, and full brother to Declaration of War, War Correspondent.

“Our roster features a wide variety of bloodlines possessing soundness, quality conformation, and a propensity to winning classic two-turn races on both dirt and turf,” Kane said. “We are focused not only on building long term relationships with breeders but also sharing in the commercial and racing success of our stallions. We have a variety of offerings to fit the needs of any breeder.”
