Gulfstream’s Rainbow 6 Jackpot Continues To Grow, Pool Up To $1,553,689 For Thursday

The 20-cent Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot grew to $1,553,689.86 for Thursday’s program at Gulfstream when the popular multi-race wager went unsolved for the 25th consecutive program Wednesday

Multiple tickets with all six winners were each worth $41,598.26.

The carryover jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

The carryover jackpot pool going into Wednesday’s six-race sequence (Races 6-11) was $1,464,550.68, generating a Rainbow 6 handle of $371,506.

The Rainbow 6 was last solved on Dec. 7, when a lucky ticketholder cashed for a $98,309.32 jackpot payoff.

Thursday’s six-race Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 5-10, including a strong optional claiming allowance for 3-year-olds in Race 9. Todd Pletcher-trained Noble Indy is slated to make his highly anticipated second start in the 1 1/16-mile event. The son of Take Charge Indy, who is owned by breeder WinStar Farm and Repole Stable, debuted with an eye-catching 8 ¾-length victory in his seven-furlong career debut at Gulfstream Park Dec. 3. John Velazquez has the mount.

Mississippi, a $700,000 purchase at the 2017 Fasig-Tipton Florida Sale, enters Thursday’s feature off 1 ¾-length triumph in a mile maiden special weight event at Churchill Downs Nov. 19. Trainer Mark Casse named Julien Leparoux on the son of Pioneerof the Nile.

Tap Rap Strike, a $875,000 purchase at the 2017 OBS March sale who won at first asking in a two-turn race at Parx Oct. 14, comes into Thursday’s race off an off-the-board finish in the Remsen (G2) at Aqueduct Dec. 2. Trainer John Servis named Irad Ortiz Jr. to ride the son of Tapit.

Tip Sheet, Miago, Stronger and Charge Card round out the field.
