Gulfstream’s Rainbow 6 Carryover Nears $1.2 Million

Bettors looking over Sunday’s 11-race program at Gulfstream Park could win more than $1 million on the 20-cent Rainbow 6.

For the 36th consecutive race day, there was no single winning ticket on the multi-race wager, resulting in a carryover for Sunday of $1,197,666.33.

Multiple tickets with all six winners Saturday returned $51,141.08.

Saturday’s sequence began in the seventh race with a $142.40 winner in Two Step Slew. The prices kept coming when Wildwood’s Beauty, a 20-1 longshot, won the $100,000 Sheer Drama as 2-5 favorite and Grade 2 winner Stormy Embrace finished fourth. There were three live tickets in the last leg, but the three contenders, all 20-1, were no factor as 9-5 favorite Song River drew off down the crowd.

The carryover jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

The Rainbow 6 was last solved July 6, when one lucky bettor hit for a $173,583.90 jackpot payoff.

Sunday’s Rainbow 6 sequence begins with the sixth race, a $35,000 claiming event for fillies and mares going 7 ½ furlongs on the turf. The sequence will include three turf races and a maiden special weight event at six furlongs that drew a field of eight.
