Gulfstream West’s Rainbow 6 Carryover Builds To $67,077 For Sunday Card

The 20-cent Rainbow 6 went unsolved for the eighth straight program Saturday at Gulfstream Park, leaving a carryover jackpot of $67,077.23 for Sunday’s 11-race program.

Multiple-tickets with all six winners were each worth $5,565.08.

There will also be a Super Hi 5 carryover Sunday in the first race of $2,277.98.

The Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot is paid out only when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket sold, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those betters holding tickets with the most winners while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

The Rainbow 6 has gone unsolved since a lucky single ticketholder cashed for a $52,137 jackpot payoff Nov. 9.

Sunday’s first-race post time is set for Noon.

John Oxley’s Dance Strike overcame a lot of early trouble to score a dominating victory under Emisael Jaramillo in the featured eighth race, an optional claiming allowance run at 1 1/16 miles on turf.

The Mark Casse-trained 3-year-old son of Tapit encountered crowding leaving the starting gate and was fanned extremely wide on the first turn to trail the 10-horse field heading into the backstretch. Jaramillo regrouped with the even-money favorite while advancing along the backstretch before cutting the corner into the stretch to suddenly loom as a danger. Dance Strike ($4.20) kicked in powerfully through the lane to win going away by open lengths to notch his second victory in three lifetime starts.

A $410,000 purchase at the 2015 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October sale, Dance Strike ran 1 1/16 miles in 1:46.02. Memory Bank finished second but was placed seventh for interference in the stretch. Third-place finisher Robusto was placed second, while Major Key was placed third.

Jaramillo also scored aboard Grand Nenuco ($7.80) in the first race, finishing the day with a 48-38 lead over two-time defending titlist Edgard Zayas in the jockey standings.
